Homotypic Synonyms:- None

Meaning:- Linum (L) Ancient name for flax.
                  Virgultorum (L) Of thickets.
               
General description:- Slender, erect annual.

Stems:-
1) (5-)10-40 cm tall. usually branched above into a lax panicle of ± monochasial
    cymes.

Leaves:-
1) 10-20 x 2-3 mm. Altemate, narrowly lanceolate, acute to acuminate, with a
    strong midvein and 2 obscure lateral veins, margins scabrid.

Flower:-
1) Sepals, 6-8 mm, lanceolate, acuminate, with scabrid and glandular-stipitate
    margins.
2) Petals, 15-20 mm, blue.
3) Stigmas, capitate.

Fruit:-
1) Capsule,  4-4.5 mm, subglobose.

Habitat:- Rocky hills oi various substrates, 0-220 m.

Distribution:- Rare in Greece and not recorded outside the Aegean area; . -
Otherwise restricted to a small area in W & SW Anatolia. Rare on Crete currently
known from only one location in the central south coastal area.
